Youth Financial Literacy Project: The Wealth Game
The Wealth Game Project is designed to address the gap in practical financial education for youth aged 12 and up by developing an interactive educational board game that teaches essential money management skills. Through a combination of financial literacy workshops and collaborative design sessions, students will help create The Wealth Game, a game that introduces real-life financial concepts in a fun and engaging way.
The project will include a series of interactive workshops where students learn the fundamentals of financial decision-making while actively participating in the design and development of the game. These workshops will guide students through both financial education and creative problem-solving as they build the game together.
Activities include:
Financial Literacy Workshops
Students will explore key financial concepts such as budgeting, saving, earning income, and basic investing. These sessions will introduce the financial ideas that will later become part of the game.
Game Design and Development
Participants will collaborate to design the structure of The Wealth Game, including the game board, rules, and financial scenario cards such as income opportunities, expenses, investments, and unexpected life events.
Expert Input and Prototyping
Financial professionals and educators will provide feedback to ensure the financial scenarios reflect real-world practices. Students will then help create and test a prototype of the game through playtesting sessions.
Testing and Final Development
Feedback from students, educators, and community participants will be used to refine the gameplay and finalize the educational board game.
Community Impact
By involving youth directly in the design process, this initiative combines financial education with creativity, collaboration, and experiential learning. The final outcome will be a student-designed educational board game that can be shared with schools, workshops, and community programs, helping more young people build the financial awareness and skills they need for the future.
